Moosehead Marathon: Run Wild in the Heart of Moosehead Lake

by Holland Rockwell, Marathon Manager

The Moosehead Marathon is growing into more than a single race—it’s becoming a series of events designed to bring people together, get them moving, and showcase everything that makes the Moosehead Lake region special.

The Moosehead Marathon team is hosting the Moose on the Run 5K & 10K on October 10, 2026, welcoming runners and walkers for a fall race through Greenville and Greenville Junction.

Our main event returns Sunday, June 13, 2027, in Greenville, Maine, featuring four distances: a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Full Marathon. The courses take runners through the heart of the Moosehead Lake Region, from downtown Greenville and Wilson Pond to quiet back roads, rolling hills and some of the area’s most beautiful scenery.

The mission behind the Moosehead Marathon is simple: to create memorable outdoor experiences that celebrate the beauty, community and spirit of Moosehead Lake while encouraging healthy living, supporting local tourism and building traditions that bring people back to our region year after year. And we’re not stopping with June. In March 2027, we’ll introduce the Mile Light Ice Run, adding a uniquely Moosehead winter event to the series. Whether you’re chasing 26.2 miles, walking your first 5K, or simply coming out to cheer, these events are about experiencing Moosehead together.

We hope each race gives people another reason to set a goal, gather their friends and family, and experience this incredible place we get to call home. Lakes. Mountains. Back roads. See what you’re made of in Moosehead. Find more information and register at MooseheadMarathon.com.
