Last year we visited Gulf Hagas from the Head of the Gulf. This year, lets explore from the Hermitage.
Length: ~8.5 miles round trip
Difficulty: Challenging, due to distance
Trailhead: KI Road Trailhead
Carpoolers meet at 8:30AM at the Katahdin Steamship Parking lot. All others meet us at the KI Road Trailhead. If coming through Greenville, you’ll go through the Hedgehog Gate. Remember, all North Maine Woods gates have a $12 fee. We do have some B1G1 50% off coupons!
Our Hiking Route: We will start at the KI Road Trailhead and hike 0.2 to the Hermitage which is 1.3 miles on the AT. Next we will be forging a stream (bring water shoes/ poles and whatever you feel you will need for this). We will then take the 3 mile long Rim trail and visit several different waterfalls, including Screw Auger Falls. We will return on the 2.2 mile Pleasant River Tote Road before returning to the Hermitage and to the KI road, making a loop.
