The Monson Library will host Steve Costanza reading his acclaimed King of Ragtime, The Story of Scott Joplin.

became a king – the King of Ragtime.”

This celebration of Scott Joplin, whose ragtime compositions paved the way for jazz, tells the inspiring story of one of America’s greatest composers.  Joplin’s story is brought to vivid life with rhythmic prose and kaleidoscopic illustrations, tracing his humble beginnings from a sharecropper’s farm in Texas to international recognition. This wonderfully rich experience also includes Steven playing several Joplin ragtime tunes on piano! Costanza will also introduce his newest book, just out now, called When Auggie Learned to Play Chess.
