Please join us March 6th 4-6 PM at the Monson Gallery Store as we feature Laurie Sproul, originally from Old Town, Maine, now sculpts wood and plays music out of her home in Brownville, Maine. Her floral designs show a love for and understanding of natural forms, as well as show her command of technical challenges of transforming a chunk of wood into elegantly complex, flowing shapes.
Laurie’s unique combination of additive and subtractive sculpture sets her work apart from most wood sculptors. This combined approach allows her to capitalize on the strength of the wood’s grain to maximize support of her leafy thin elements. Laurie uses wood she gathers in Maine, favoring basswood, butternut and walnut. She uses natural, clear finishes to enhance the wood’s color and grain.
For our tasting this month we will be featuring Weekday Wine, Pinot Grigio and Cabernet. They want you to be able to enjoy your weekday unwind without feeling the tradeoffs tomorrow. This is why they created a wine with naturally reduced alcohol, low calories and zero sugar to give you everything you want with less of what you don’t. At Weekday, they believe in full taste with no compromises.
