Chainsaw Safety Workshop for Women with Piscataquis Soil & Water

Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) will be hosting our 9th annual Chainsaw Safety Workshop on September 26th and 27th, 2026 at the Williamsburg Forest.  PCSWCD’s Chainsaw Safety Workshop will provide participants with a well-rounded introduction on how they should safely handle, maintain and use a chainsaw. We will be hosting presenter Sam Heffner, Maine Forest Ranger, who will provide hands-on instruction, demonstrations and information about chainsaw usage. Workshop topics will include an overview of chainsaw safety equipment and features, maintenance, sharpening, proper cuts, practical applications, step-by-step tree felling and more. The workshop is broken up into 2 days to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of handling, working with and fixing a chainsaw. Much of this workshop will be hands-on and participants will come away feeling comfortable handling and working with a chainsaw.
